About Anna

I was born in 1929 of Sicilian immigrants in East Harlem, New York City. I earned my Masters Degree in Music Education at the Manhattan School of Music. I was a music teacher for 25 years. I spent the majority of my teaching career in the Ossining, New York school district. After receiving my master's, I married Ezio Flagello, Metropolitan Opera basso. We had four wonderful children who are now four successful adults.

I have traveled extensively and have sought my family's roots in Corleone Sicily. I have since divorced and retired from teaching music only to pursue my next venture, writing.

What was a fulfilling hobby, has become a passion. In 1999, I sat down behind my typewriter and began to tell my stories. I soon traded in my typewriter for a computer and my stories became the manifestation of two trilogies of historical fiction. The trilogies are fictional novels about the generations of two Sicilian families and the changes that come with the times and assimilation.

Getting published has prove to be a greater obstacle than writing. If one is not Stephen King, one begins to seek out the many avenues available to become a published author. After some research and many tribulations, sever of my books are available through authorhouse.com, an on line publishing company. This is a great accomplishment for me and I will continue to write and continue to be published as long as you continue reading and telling your own stories.
